The Ryding Siblings

The Ryding siblings are four such fans.

Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie had their itineraries and entry credentials secured for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "a full year in advance", hoping to witness a rare England series success.

Sadly, they've observed Australia defeat England convincingly in just a short period from their house in Penwortham, Lancashire.

"All my colleagues has been teasing me regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," said Sam.

"We always thought that we would have a meaningful contest upon our arrival."

Diminishing Hope

There was plenty of positivity concerning a potential victory of ending their 15-year wait for a triumph on Australian soil before it began.

But they are now looking at the possibility of extending their winless run in the country to 19 games when the next match starts in the MCG on Christmas Day.

Ben Stokes' side - and their fans - will be keen to prevent a dreaded 5-0 scoreline.

Alex said the "entertainment" of head coach the aggressive 'Bazball' approach in recent years had "brought fresh energy to" the longest format for England fans.

However, the group said they had low expectations for the final two games - and all they are requesting from the players is "some resilience".

"Every pundit alludes to it, but it all hinges on fortitude. 'This style has been turned into a buzzword now that is just, like, unrealistic play," commented another sibling.

"In a five-day Test match, you should apply yourself. Wafting outside 'sixth stump' areas has never been in the textbooks, and that is largely because of the frontline batsmen."

Looking Ahead

Prompted about he believed England will secure a victory in the current series, came the reply: "It looks like the hosts are a stronger side at the moment."

"It will require multiple performers that delivers for the team and turns the game."

Despite the scoreline, the siblings are still anticipating the trip.

"We are going to have a fantastic experience anyway," commented Katie Ryding. "Our approach is that outlook."

"Naturally, it's unfortunate we can't contest the series, but we have spent so much money already."

"We plan to savor spending the festive season out there. Additionally, it's a new experience for us away from home during the festive period."

A schoolteacher, Katie is focused on enjoying the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her seasonal break.

"As a backup plan, I can play golf to rely on," she finished.
