Uche Fuels Dominant Crystal Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though entering their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Missing star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another three points in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal direct entry to the knockout stages, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This match offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season proved outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

Control Asserted from the Start

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton went close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official dismissed the protests.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
